Our unique style 'Funky Smoooth Jive' has been extremely well received in Bedford and it's great to see more smoooth dancers developing!
We still need more LADIES at Bedford...
Wednesday @ The Fleet.
Sorry we didn't get the fans on sooner everyone. As the previous weeks were so cold we got out of the habit of opening the windows/turning the fans on early. This week temperatures sored into double figures and there were lots of extra bodies in The Fleet to, so by the end of the second class we were all feeling the heat! Lesson learnt and we'll be looking out for it next week. It might have been hot, but the dancing was hotter!

Thursday @ The Pembo.
A fun packed night starting with Anton and Alison's class which featured a power failure to the music equipment! Anton was as cool as a cucumber and the show went on while the problem was solved! Then Nigel and Susana delivered a great class featuring the cha cha cha, followed by music from the evening's birthday girl Alison. Great to see lots of faces back after we were snowed off last week.
Men! We need you @ the pembo on Thursday nights... Lots of extra ladies who want to dance with 'proper blokes'!

Ladies Needed on a Sunday Evening!

We're all used to hearing about "how many extra ladies" were at this or that dance class.... Well ladies, we've got a problem in Bedford on Sunday nights - TOO MANY MEN!!!
This is actually against the law, so we need more ladies @ The Harpur Suite on a Sunday evening.
This venue has often been described as 'magical', but last night someone described it as the friendliest venue they've been to! (Which is saying something as this person has been to Peterborough recently.... Which tops my list of friendly venues currently!)
So please gather your friends and lets get some more ladies along PLEASE!!!!!! .

Soul**Motown**Disco Night - 13th March

Last year was the 50th anniversary of the Stax and Motown record labels, two of the most infuencial record labels of all time, producing some of the greatest sounds and artists ever seen or heard!
Last year Lazy Dave combined his understanding of this musical era with his in depth knowledge of social dancing to produce a dance night that celebrated this great music (along with some disco!) and hit the high notes for modern jive dancing too.
Great music + great dancing = good times!

So after taking this dance experience around the country last year, Lazy Dave is bringing it to Peterborough! Everyone loves this 'good time' music and you'll love dancing to it even more - there is so much good stuff for modern jive, it'll be an aural and dance delight!!!

More Excellent Weekender Feedback

Time after time, as our club members visit dance weekenders they're returning to the club with variations on the same stories.....
Female feedback to the men:
"Where did you learn to dance? It's so smooth and feels lovely"
From the ladies upon their return to the club:
"We take UK-S for granted until we dance with men who haven't learnt it... The difference is massive. Not just a little.... Massive."
Modern Jive is the best form of social dance, without question... it's only downfall can be the teachers who try to teach big cabaret moves with no basics in place first... and nice people who learn from teachers like that just don't understand the difference which results in painful dance floor accidents. This is sad because we all trust our teachers to guide us competently.
So where better to learn to dance than at UK Smoooth by a teacher who has been described as a 'Dance Evangelist'. Lazy Dave Plummer has been developing this style over the last 5 years, taking basic modern jive and making it smoother by using his dance experience and understanding of his subject matter which is second to none.
It's never too late to learn! If you are currently learning modern jive and have an open mind to understanding a little basic technique you are very welcome at UK-S. It is a bit different to conventional modern jive, but don't be phased by that - after a few weeks you'll start using our simple techniques and your dancing will evolve to levels of smooth social dancing you never thought possible!
All friendly, social dancers, beginners or experienced are welcomed and 'prima donnas' are tollerated too :-)
